EAT AND STAY HEALTHY!

Walk into any book store, and you’ll be bombarded with weight loss books, some claiming low-fat diets will help you shed kilos, others touting high-protein diets.

A study concludes that both kinds of popular diets work — at least in the short-term — not because they have any special secrets, but simply because both types of diets force you to eat fewer calories. “The main thing in weight loss is calories in versus calories out.”

Lose weight by diet and exercise

Nandan’s Weight Loss Story…..

How did all begin?

When I was climbing the stairs of a commercial building, I realized I was breathless after climbing just the 1st floor as I was used to taking the lift. That’s when I realized that there was something wrong with me.

I went to my family doctor for my breathlessness and he asked me to go for a routine check up (which I had not done till date!) My Blood pressure was pushing 150/110 and the scales of the weighing machine was showing 98kgs!  As if this was not enough….my blood report had a cholesterol of border line high and sugar level of 140 !                      .

I felt the whole world was spinning around me!!

That’s when the chord in my mind struck me. With the help of my family members especially my wife, Rita who motivated me for 1 month on meal replacements, I saw results. This was an inspiring and I finally made up my mind to do it.

I started working out and hired a good trainer. I knew I was too heavy to do  regular workouts, so my trainer made me do a lot of field training. I also started eating more during th day (quality foods). Now, I eat almost 9-11 times a day in small portions. I sleep better and have started to drink a lot of water.

What was  most challenging about losing weight?

The most challenging about my weight loss was “My love for food!” I love junk food especially Indian junk food which is high in carbohydrates, saturated fat and low in proteins.

How long did it take you to reach your current weight?

It took me nearly 8 months to come back to shape and my current weight is 84kgs! I don’t do strict dieting and decided on permanent fat loss and not just weight loss.

How has your life changed now that you have lost weight ?

Things inside me and around me have become beautiful including my wife!   I feel so young and energetic with the modified diet plans which are specially made for me keeping in mind my medical requirements.

The most important thing I learned from this experience was how to say NO to myself. That single thing, learning how to say no, has spilled over into more facets of my life than I ever thought possible, and it has provided such positive results.

The objective of losing weight is not to get thin, it is to become and feel healthy.
