Swine Flu “Role of Homoeopathy”

Swine flu (H1N1)?

Swine flu is an infection caused by a virus. It’s named from a virus that pigs can get. People do not normally get swine flu, but human infections can and do happen. It is a highly contagious respiratory disease caused by one of the many  Influenza A viruses and can spread from human to human.

Swine Flu Transmission

Swine influenza (novel H1N1) spreads from person to person, either by inhaling the virus or touching surfaces contaminated with the virus, then touching the mouth or nose. Infected droplets are expelled into the air through coughing or sneezing.

Symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Running nose
  • Body aches
  • Headache
  • Chills
  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhea and vomiting.

But these symptoms can also be caused by many other conditions. That means that you and your doctor can’t know, just based on your symptoms, if you’ve got swine flu. Health care professionals may offer a rapid flu test.

Complications include:

  • Worsening of chronic conditions, such as heart disease, diabetes and asthma
  • Pneumonia
  • Neurological symptoms, ranging from confusion to seizures
  • Respiratory failure

How to protect oneself?

  • Wash your hands regularly with soap
  • Try to stay healthy
  • Get plenty of sleep
  • Do plenty of exercise
  • Try to manage your stress
  • Drink plenty of liquids
  • Eat a well balanced diet
  • Refrain from touching surfaces which may have the virus
  • Do not get close to people who are sick
  • Stay away from crowded areas if there is a swine flu outbreak in your area.

Homoeopathic Treatment :-

Swine flu is like any other flu and can be easily treated by homoeopathy .There are so many cases that go undetected or undiagnosed and tend to get cured on its own .

Only if the individuals immunity is low, a person can land up in life threatening complications.

Patients who are already on constitutional homoeopathic treatment, their immunity is already good, so even if they land up having swine flu, chances of them developing complications are very less .

There was a fad last year to take influenzenum as preventive medicine. Sorry to mention but there are no specific medicines in homoeopathy which will act like a preventive measure.

Only on considering the symptoms which the patient develops, should one take homoeopathic medicine that too after consulting your homoeopath.

For e.g- if the patient is consuming less quantity of water, is drowsy with heaviness in the head, he/she may require Gelsemium.

Similarly, if another patient develops restless and is taking sips of water continuously, he/she may require arsenic alb.
